Vista Bella A summer variety, developed in the USA. The tree is vigorous, with moderately thick crown and strong skeletal branches. It blossoms early on the average and is a good pollinator. It can be successfully pollinated by the following varieties: Prima, Jersey Mac, Mollie's Delicious, Liberty, Idared. The variety has early bearing and heavy cropping. It is sensitive to apple scab and powdery mildew. It it well adaptable to different climatic conditions. The fruits are of average size, flattish, to flat-round, yellow-green, with purple-red coloring and strong wax cover. The flesh is whitish, tender, tart-sweet, with good to very good quality. It ripes during the first ten days of July and biannual bearing is recommended. Tolerates well manipulation and transportation. |

Mollies Delicious An american variety. The tree is vigorous, with moderately thick crown. Blossoms late on the average, and is a good polinator. Its pollinators are: Granny Smith, Prima, Ozark Gold and those of the kind of Red and Golden Delicious. The variety ripes early and produces heavy crops, is moderately sensitive to apple scab and and powdery mildew. The fruits are large to very large, conical to elongated conical (similar to the fruits of Red Delicious). They are light green with bright red coloring, covering most of the fruit. The flesh is cream-colored, tender, sweet, with pleasant aroma and very good quality. They ripe around the middle of August, and tolerate well manipulation and transportation. |

Ozark Gold American variety. The fruits are moderately large to large, roundish-conical in shape. Colored in yellow, often blushed, without russet, sweet-tart, with goot to very good quality. Self unfruitful. Good polinators are Mollie's Delicious, Prima, Starkrimson, the group of Golden Delicious, Aivania, Granny Smith. Sensitive to apple scab and slightly sensitive to powdery mildew. The crops are very heavy and comparatively regular. Ripens in the end of August and in the beginning of September. |

Jonagold This variety is selected in USA and is new to our country. The tree is moderately to very vigorous, with skeletal branches, that form a wide, open crown. The blossom is moderately late. The variety is triploid, i.e. a bad pollinator. It is pollinated by the group of Red Delicious, Melrouge, Gloster, Florina, Idared, Granny Smith. The variety ripes early and produces heavy crops. Moderately sensitive to apple scab and powdery mildew. The fruits are large, roundish-conical, with yellow-green basic color, covered in more or less (depending on the year and the place of growing) with smudged and striped red color. The flesh is cream-colored, crackling, sweet, pleasantly tart, with very good quality. The harvest ripening comes about 15-20 September, or almost at the same time as Golden Delicious. Requires careful manipulation and transportation, will store in common conditions about 3 months and in cold - about 6 months. |

Gloster 69 A variety new to our country, created in FRG, under the name Gloster 69. The tree is vigorous, with tidy broom-like crown and long skeletal branches, visibly bare at the base. The blooming is comparatively late. It is a good pollinator, and its pollinators are the varieties from the group of Golden Delicious - Melrouge, Granny Smith, Florina. Sensitive to apple scab and slightly sensitive to powdery mildew. The fruits are moderately large, roundish to elongated conical (resemble the ones of Red Delicious variety), with yellow-greenish basic color, covered with red to dark-red color almost on the whole fruit. The flesh is pale cream-colored, crackling, sweet, pleasantly tart with very good quality. The harvest is during the third ten days of September, almost simultaneously or short after Golden Delicious variety. Tolerates well manipulation and transportation. Keeps almost the same as Jonagold. Towards the end of the storage period, gains floury texture and loses its taste qualities. |

Melrose Created in USA. Locally it is widely spread after 1979. The tree is vigorous to moderately vigorous. The blooming is moderately late. It features abnormally developed blossoms - some don't have a normal number of petals, and others are underdeveloped. The variety is a good pollinator. It is pollinated by the varieties from the group of Golden Delicious - Idared, Jonathan, Granny Smith, Prima, Florina. It doesn't have to be planted near varieties of the group of Red Delicious, because they cannot pollinate each other. The variety is early bearing and heavy cropping. Displays moderate sensitivity to apple scab and powdery mildew. The fruits are large to very large, roundish flat to roundish conical, yellow-green, covered on the most part by dark red coloring. The flesh is pale, cream-colored, juicy, sweet-tart, with very good quality. The harvest ripening is during the third ten days of September. Tolerates well manipulation and transportation and keeps better than Red Delicious, and towards the end of storage gets floury texture. |

Granny Smith Australian variety, still not very well spread here. The tree is very vigorous, with wide, revese conical crown, with skeletal branches visibly bear at the base. The blossom is moderately late, and the variety is a good pollinator. Its pollinators are the varieties Gloster, from the group of red and Golden Delicious, Mollie's Delicious, Melrouge, Aivania. It has good an regular cropping, slightly sensitive to apple scab and moderately sensitive to powdery mildew. Its fruits are averagely large to large, round-conical, with regular shape, intensive green, sometimes with slight brown-reddish blush. The flesh is whitish, thick, juicy, sweet-tart, pleasantly fresh, with good to very good quality. The harvest ripening is during the last ten days of October. Tolerates very well manipulation and transportation. In normal conditions keeps 4-5, and in cold - 6-7 months. It has to be bread in places with long and warm winter. |

Sensitive to the winter cold. Requires warmer climate and fertile soil. Ripens about the second ten days of September. |

Florina A new variety, selected in France, where it is famous for its name Querina. Practically unknown in Bulgaria. The tree is very vigorous, with thick conical crown. The blossom is comparatively late. The variety is a good pollinator. It is pollinated by the varieties of the group of Red and Golden Delicious - Prima, Melrouge, Idared, Granny Smith. It has early bearing and heavy cropping. Resiliant to apple scab, very slightly sensitive to powdery mildew and fire blight. The fruits are mildly large to large, round-conical to round-flattish, often with unsymmetrical halves. The basic color is yellow-gree, and the cover - smudged and striped red to dark red, almost all around the whole fruit, they have moderate wax cover. The flesh is cream-colored, crackling, juicy, sweet, slightly tart, aromatic, with very good quality. The harvest ripening is about the end of September the beginning of October. They tolerate well manipulation and transportation, and the storage is about a month better than the one of Golden Delicious. |

Charden A comparatively new French variety, almost unknown to our producers and comsumers. The tree is very vigorous, with widely round crown. Blossoms comparatively late. The variety is troploid, i.e. bad polinator. It is polinated by the varieties of Red Delicious - Melrouge, Granny Smith, Prima. It has early bearing and good and regular cropping, less sensitive to apple scab and powdery mildew than Golden Delicious variety. The fruits are large to very large, round-conical, with regular shape, yellow-green, slightly sensitive to russeting. The flesh is light cream-colored to yellowish, thick, juicy, sweet-tart, aromatic, with very good quality. The harvesting ripe is during the first ten days of October. Requires more careful manipulation and transportation. Keeps in normal conditions 3-4 months, and in cool - about 6 months. |
